Step-In Girls Enrichment Program
Helping Girls Flourish Through Connection, Confidence, and Coping Skills
Our Pillars
At Charleston Hope, we believe every girl deserves more than just support — she deserves the opportunity to flourish. The Step-In Program is a trauma-informed, research-based enrichment experience designed for girls in 3rd–5th grade.
Through a blend of Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) strategies, and Positive Psychology (PERMA) principles, Step-In equips girls with the tools to:
Understand and manage their emotions
Build healthy friendships
Develop resilience in the face of challenges
See themselves as capable leaders and valuable members of their community
Emotional Well-being
Girls gain understanding in how to regulate and express their emotions to build emotional intelligence and social-emotional skills.
Healthy Relationships
Girls develop essential skills for understanding and fostering healthy relationships with themselves, peers and adults around them.
Physical Well-being
Girls foster independence by gaining a sense of control of their bodies and their capabilities through physical activities.
Community Building
Girls expand their horizons, sense of belonging and aspirations through connections to their community and the world around them through experiences.
Last year, Step-In girls reported:
63%
became more adaptable when facing change or setbacks
87%
felt more connected to friends and trusted adults
75%
improved their ability to manage emotions
These outcomes matter because when girls feel safe, supported, and confident, they are more likely to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Our Six-Step Method
These six-steps are vitally important to the success and integrity of Charleston Hope’s Step-In Program Model and are followed daily in our programs.
